The Doctor’s Clinic Offers Sleep Solutions to Kitsap Residents

The Doctor’s Clinic is helping Kitsap residents to sleep more soundly with a long tested sleep surgery. Sleep Surgery is surgery to help to either cure or in many cases improve obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep surgery can sometimes make it so that a patient no longer needs CPAP therapy. In other cases the surgery can improve the severity of sleep apnea or make it easier to tolerate CPAP.

Can surgery cure my Obstructive Sleep Apnea? The answer is: sometimes. The results of sleep surgery depend upon many factors. By-and-large, CPAP is more effective than surgery. However a certain percentage of patients simply cannot tolerate their CPAP for a variety of reasons, and surgery may be another option for people who are in this category.

Untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea matter can affect many aspects of health. The most immediate effect is daytime fatigue due to poor sleep quality. However, untreated OSA can increase the risk of heart attacks, stroke, hypertension, traumatic accidents, depression, and the development of dementia in adults. In children it can cause poor school performance, poor concentration, or even hyperactivity in some cases.

When we asked Doctor Christopher England of The Doctors clinic he explained, “our goal is always to try to cure the patient’s sleep apnea, of course. For Inspire therapy in particular, we are able to improve the severity of sleep apnea by about 70% and remove the need for CPAP in most of my last 40 patients. But just as importantly we were able to improve their quality of life in almost every patient and those are our three goals: improve the sleep apnea, improve the quality of life, and if possible
remove the need for CPAP.
