Kitsap County Fair & Stampede

Every August, as summer begins to fade into fall, the Kitsap County Fair & Stampede bursts to life—not just with lights and music, but with the unmistakable heartbeat of a community coming together. “It is all about our community, and that is what sets our hometown fair apart,” says Fair Manager Dorrie Berning. This year, that spirit shines even brighter as the fair proudly joins the nationwide celebration of America 250.

From the moment you step onto the grounds, the energy pulls you in. The Pavilion buzzes with more than 120 exhibitors offering handcrafted goods, local service providers, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. The aroma of kettle corn, barbecue, and classic fair treats drifts from 30 food vendors around the grounds. Inside President’s Hall, quilts hang beside Lego builds, paintings sit next to homemade cookies, and every entry tells a story of someone’s creativity and pride.

Just beyond the exhibits, the barns are alive with 4-H and FFA students tending to their animals, their excitement contagious as they prepare for showings. And then there’s the Stampede—the thunder of hooves, the roar of the crowd, and the thrill of a PRCA rodeo that stands as one of the final qualifiers for the National Finals.

More than 60,000 people are expected to attend August 26–30, drawn by five days of tradition and excitement. Wednesday through Saturday brings eight classic rodeo events, from barrel racing to bull riding, plus a new addition this year: a world-famous trick rider whose daring stunts promise to captivate the crowd. On Sunday, the arena transforms for Xtreme Bull Riding, featuring some of the toughest bulls in the sport.

For Berning, the true magic lies in the volunteers. “Without the hundreds of hours our volunteers put in, we would not be the quality fair we are,” she says. “They are the hands behind the barns, the exhibits, the flowers, and the countless details that make the fair unforgettable.”

With contests, entertainment, demonstrations, and family-friendly fun at every turn, the Kitsap County Fair & Stampede remains a place where the community comes together and everyone feels at home.
